How it works

Every subscription on our advertising portal will be different from the next, as each subscriber will make different choices about what they want from their advertising. By advertising with us our subscribers can choose where their business is seen, as their listing will only be shown to properties (both domestic and commercial) within their specified area.

 

All subscribers of this site will choose which level of subscription (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinium) will best suit their advertising requirements, the higher the subscription level the larger the advertising area.

Bespoke advertising for larger territories – Please contact Compare A Trader Administration for details.

 

When subscribers first register they are asked to select a central point they wish to advertise from. This will be the centre of their unique territory (this can be altered at any time, thereafter) and from this central point, by selecting different advertising packages, will determine the area in which the subscribers listing will be viewable (for subscribers who require a larger territory, Compare A Trader administration will create a bespoke Platinium subscription).

 

The selection of an advertising plan will give the subscriber an allocation of category entries (additional categories can be purchased by all subscribers), which they can choose from a list. Included in each category is a selection of services, from which the subscriber can choose as many or as few that are appropriate to their business activities. The advantage of splitting each category into services is that it will enable users to find the service they require easier and quicker, and it will mean that subscribers will only be contacted for a job they can or would want to do, in an area of their choosing.

 

As each subscriber chooses their own central point unique to themselves and also determines the distance which they will advertise to, inevitably individual subscription areas will overlap with subscribers offering the same service(s) to the overlapped area. When more than one subscriber appears in a search conducted by a customer, they are displayed in a random order.

 

Subscribers are able to improve their position in any search results to customers, by selecting our “Plus” Plans – the difference with these plans is these subscribers will be placed above other advertisers when a corresponding search is performed. "Plus" Plan subscribers will also enjoy an increased advertising area compared with our standard subscribers. However where multiple plus subscriptions overlap the results will be randomised again.

Subscribers are able to customise their listing so that their listing will be shown to only customers in their territory, in the right marketplace (Residential or Commercial), and if the subscriber should wish to be displayed in an Urgent search. Subscribers can make their selection either on registration or in the Trader’s area section afterwards (for a small additional fee).

 

Subscribers in these categories are able to display their listing in both maintenance and Urgentsearches and this enables a customer to find an emergency trade’s person when and where they are needed.

 

All subscribers will receive an allocation of free business and feedback cards, which are ordered from the member’s area (additional cards can be purchased at reduced prices). All customers of our subscribers can leave feedback for our subscribers either online or via the postal feedback cards. This feedback needs to be validated by the subscriber as genuine before publication. A discount will be levied on a subscriber’s renewal premium, proportional to the amount of feedback displayed on their listing during the last advertising term.
