Compare A Trader is an online information service that allows trades people (both domestic and commercial) to advertise their services to customers in a particular area.

Trades people are able to create a complete on line profile of their business, which they can edit and change as often as they need to. Customers will also be shown useful information regarding each trades person (including, payment forms accepted, call out charges and a picture portfolio of the trades persons past works and much more) as well as any relevant qualifications the trades people have attained.

This profile will also include any feedback that past customers have left for them, this is incentivised by our monthly £100 voucher draw. This feedback is either completed on line or via a postal feedback card (a quantity of which is included with every advertising package, and additional feedback cards can be purchased at a low cost). All advertising plans also include a quantity of free business cards (additional business cards can be purchased at a low cost).

We are different from other advertising portals as our members pay a flat fee to advertise with us, which works out more cost effective to them. Other advertising portals are not as cost effective as we are because some charge their members:

• Large percentage commissions based on the final value of the job,
• To quote or buy the customers contact information for each job online.

We think this is unfair on you the trades person, as well as on the end customer, who indirectly pays for these costs. We offer several key differences to other sites in that we also offer an urgent trader search, which allows customers to search only for trades people who are specialised into offering urgent repairs to their property (this can range from a full 24 hour a day emergency call out service, through to seeing customers at short notice the same day). We have also made it possible for this site in its entirety to be used with most mobile devices and handsets.
